Cards nurses never fold shirt

This past weekend I walked onto our labor unit at 4am and said hello to the nurses, who were busy doing their normal activities like pulling meds, charting, and caring for patients. I asked how their night was going, and several mentioned that it was “too busy to play cards.” Intrigued (and out of the loop on the card-playing controversy) I took a few minutes to listen to the Senator’s comments about nursing professionalism. Here are my observations of over 30 years of working with nurses in hospitals, emergency rooms, and physician offices:
