Most people think that the Coca-Cola and Pepsi bottlers are owned by … well… Coca-Cola and Pepsi. But this is usually not the case. The bottlers are separate entities that are free to bottle other brands of drinks as well. Often, one or the other will have contracts with Dr. Pepper that allow them to bottle it in their area.
