When I asked this about Xanax, another drug in the same family, my psychopharmacologist told me never to take it three days in a row especially at the same time of day. I followed that religiously and usually took it very infrequently - less than 2 small doses in any month. One 30-day prescription would last me years. During a period when I was taking it much more often (3 small doses a week over the course of a month - and never more than 2 days in a row) I realized that I was suffering from increased anxiety a little over 24 hours after each dose and that I might have been suffering that effect even when I was taking it infrequently. My p-doc confirmed that this was being caused by the Xanax and agreed with my decision to stop using it. Is that addiction? Not exactly, but it's the way addiction starts. Clonazepam has perhaps even greater potential for trouble as it stays in the body longer than Xanax. You'll have a very hard time distinguising your own anxiety from drug cravings -- they feel nearly identical. There are better ways to deal with social anxiety than taking one of the most highly addictive drugs.  Don't even think about taking illegally sold benzos - you have no idea what you're actually taking.
